    Arbëreshe Holy Week represents the most important event to discover the unique cultural identity of Piana degli Albanesi. During the Arbëreshe Easter period of Piana degli Albanesi, which in Albanian is Java e Madhe e Horës së Arbëreshëvet, you can experience and participate in the solemn Byzantine religious rites, admiring the sumptuousness of the traditional female costume of Piana degli Albanesi.

    On the occasion of Holy Week in Piana degli Albanesi, this exclusive event with limited places was created. The meeting point is in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele in front of the Sanctuary of Maria SS. Hodegetria and the private tour will start at 11.00 and will last approximately 90 minutes. With this tour you will visit the Museum of the Collegio di Maria behind closed doors, which better than any other place represents the unique cultural identity of Piana degli Albanesi. This Museum is not open to the public and is only open on the occasion of visits by authorities. The Museum of the Collegio di Maria houses the most precious collection of sacred vestments of the Byzantine rite, of Byzantine icons of the seventeenth century. and sacred art. The visit continues with the Sanctuary of Maria SS. Odigitria which was designed by Pietro Novelli and which represents the living testimony of Arbëreshe history. The visit ends with the Nicola Barbato Civic Museum where you can admire the traditional costumes of Piana degli Albanesi, the ostensive herbarium of the Nature Reserve and the historical section of the Portella della Ginestra massacre. At the end of the tour you can taste the famous cannoli from Piana degli Albanesi.
